A Message from Black Page creator Sean Mitchell

Dear friends,

I hope you are all well. It tears me apart to be writing this letter, but I am hoping you are able to offer some direction.

Recently, my six-year-old niece Aleda suffered an extreme grand mal seizure lasting two days; it has since left her with severe brain damage. At the moment, the doctors have yet to decipher a cause of the seizure—and the prognosis remains bleak.

My brother and his wife have been by Aleda’s side 24/7 during her stay at the Winnipeg Children’s Hospital. Brett and Tracy are currently living on one disposable income and are not able to work at the moment, as Aleda requires round-the-clock attention and care, and will continue to for quite some time.

The entire Mitchell family, however, continues to remain positive that Aleda will regain all functions again—despite the doctors giving us little hope. In an effort to be proactive and help my little brother in any way I can, I am reaching out to The Black Page community for any information or resources you may offer.

If any of the following points apply to you, please email me at sean@theblackpage.net.

1. If you are aware of any programs or funding for parents of sick children in North America.

2. If you are aware of any hospitals in Canada or the USA with exceptional neurological programs.

3. If you can provide a referral (whether from personal experience or word of mouth) for a physician who specializes in neurological disorders or brain trauma.

4. If you are aware of alternate healing avenues with regard to children and brain injuries.

5. If you know of any families who have gone through similar experiences and who would be willing to share their experience.

I have also set up a “donate” button below if you wish to help financially in any way (this link will direct you to this donation page on our website). All donations will be sent to my brother and his wife to help offset the costs associated with Aleda’s hospital stay.

Thank you for all your support in the past and for taking the time to read this letter. I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you, who make up The Black Page community. Please feel free to share this message with anyone you may feel may have information or related experiences.
