Peter Erskine Joins Tama

Tama Drums has announced the addition of yet another drumming legend to their growing roster of endorsers. Jazz legend Peter Erskine will be flying the Tama flag at this year's NAMM and will be using the STAR Bubinga kit in the company's new Sunny Yellow Lacquer finish.

"Why Tama? Why now?" asked Erskine in a recent Tama YouTube clip. "Well, I'm 60 years old and I realize that I want to play what I want to play. We A/B'd (my friends and I) Tama STAR with every other drum set, and it was no contest. Hands down the most musical sounding drums. Tama is a drum that will lead me to great places and this is where I want to go."

Of course, the company has never been short on talent. When you have names like Stewart Copeland, Kenny Aronoff, Mike Portnoy and Simon Phillips singing (or rather drumming) your praises, there is a good chance you are doing something right. And while artists do jump ship from one company to the next, it still bodes well when players with names like Cobham and Erskine decide they want to dock in your port.
