Extended Flam Workouts
Technique by Dan Slater // November 13 2012
These exercises are designed to help you get comfortable switching between different flam rudiments. Many times we learn these separately, but when improvising musically we need to be able to move through different sticking patterns without even thinking about them. I have used odd time signatures in exercises 1 and 2 so the sticking flips around in every second bar. Think of 15/8 as triplets in 5/4 if that helps! Exercise 3 is one of my fave gig warm-ups, and exercise 4 is it's evil twin.
