The Neverending Exercise: Part I

Here is an exercise I have been messing around with a lot. First you take any pattern. Here we will use a measure of 1/8 notes, 1/16 notes, and 1/8 note triplets. Once you have your rhythm, choose any accent pattern. In Part 1, I have chosen to accent just beats 1 2 3 & 4. Next you would choose your sticking pattern. Here in Part 1, I put in some common sticking patterns. In the blank spaces make up you own sticking pattern. Be creative and challenge yourself. Each combination can challenge you in a different way. In Part 2, I will show you some of the accent and sticking patterns I came up with.
